Races

Humans
Humans vary greatly. They can be brave, intelligent, creative, and just plain ugly. They're very adaptable creatures, though some would call them weak. However, they're very durable and seem to live through some pretty daunting situations.

Ogres
Hungry, vile, and stupid. They prefer a diet of meat. They have a fantastic and sometimes horrendous ability to persuade their victims to do almost anything by turning their voice smooth and sickly sweet like honey. They're incredibly hairy and ugly.

Sorcerers
Have very ugly, bony, hairy feet. Their natural state is that of flying or floating, though when in the presence of humans they are supposed to walk directly on the earth. They need only air to live, but may eat and drink for pleasure. Sorcerers are born being able to talk and fly. They are unable to sleep. They can never get sick, but may die through many similar ways as humans, such as in war. At the end of 500 years, if the sorcerer is still alive, their spark is extinguished and they die. They are born when lightning strikes marble. The first two hundred years of their lives are spent as apprentices, after which they are journeymen and retreat to the citadel, which they rarely leave. Part of their training includes spending 5 years serving a king, where they perform minor magic, do simple tricks with the weather, and keep the castle free of rats. They are tall, with long necks and fingers, white eyelashes, and dark, wavy hair. They are usually rather indifferent to humans, and they rarely marry, and never to other sorcerers. A few marriages have happened between humans and sorcerers, and children have been born from them. They use a golden baton to channel their powers.

Specters
Can take many shapes. They try and lead their victims to death through trickery. When they've been found out for what they truly are, they will begin to disappear, but if you command them to stay, they must answer one question for you. They can make prophesies about the future. Specters do not leave footprints, which is one of the ways you can discover you're with one.

Fairies
Haven't been seen by humans for hundreds of years and are believed to have retreated to their home atop the invisible Mount Ziriat. They still visit the sorcerers, elves, and dwarfs occasionally, but never humans. They're sorely missed. Humans used to have fairy godmothers and godfathers. Fairies also have very tiny feet and are loath to use magic unless necessary because of the unpleasant consequences it can have.

Dragons
Their scales can be very useful. Can ward away mice and rats if placed on a mantel, can warm a person if held in their hand, can make for a very fiery, tasty broth, and can make a superior letter opener. They live in large lairs, with many treasures. When they sleep, it can last for days. Dragons live for hundreds of years. While they are quite independent, they will often seek revenge for kin that have been killed. They are great, huge beasts that are considerable in battle, breathing great bursts of fire.

Gnomes
They make their homes underground. They posses some form of magic, and can make predictions for the future. Gnomic, their language, is punctuated and capitalized backwards. Their traditional greeting is, "Digging is good for the wealth and for the health." Their favourite scent is sulfur. They can sometimes have htun coloured hair, a colour humans cannot see. They are wider than humans, and somewhat short. Their currency is gems. Their favourite drink is mineral water. They don't often have visitors to their caverns as being underground for too long does not agree with most humans.

Elves
Their greeting is: "sun and rain". They can read thoughts. Their teeth are pale green. They have mossy hair and green skin that's tinged slightly according to the seasons (orange in autumn). They're the same height as humans. They eat mostly soups. They live in forests. They sleep in hammocks. Elves are the best potters out there. Elves often serve as nurses in castles and are very good at the art of healing through the use of many herbal potions.

(Elves in this game are interpreted as being slightly tinted green, and it does not have to be obvious in the pb that there is a greenish shade to their skin, teeth, or hair.)

Gryphons
Winged monsters with little in the way of intelligence. They're dirty and ragged, with much in the way of scars. They are vicious and have been known to attack each other when trying to feed.
